Moving to DITO is a wise decision
In November 2024, we have decided not to continue subscribing to the fiber-optic Wi-Fi services of 2 different providers; DataConnect (then DCTech) and PLDT. The reason was that fiber-optic Internet is rife with financial corruption: charging excessively while their services have substandard quality. Since then, we fully returned to 4G/Long-Term Evolution as our primary method of connecting worldwide. I bought a 4G-based DITO prepaid Wi-Fi device via Shopee. That unit costs ₱980, so I reserved ₱1,000 to pay for the unit. I chose the DITO Wi-Fi device because the DITO mobile network is mostly free space, which means swifter downloads. On my mobile phone, DITO's download speed is up to 50 Mbps when conducted outdoors. Another reason for choosing DITO as the Wi-Fi choice is to decongest GLOBE and PLDT; given that GLOBE and PLDT are overcrowded, of course, the stress relief of their networks is overdue. GLOBE and PLDT remain notorious for their unstable Internet. Wherever you see a DITO loader or your phone detects any DITO coverage, we encourage you to purchase a DITO Wi-Fi device. Activate your DITO SIM, choose a subscription. Enjoy DITO's mostly free bandwidth and decongest GLOBE and PLDT.
Since 2022, I started subscribing to DITO on my mobile phone. This is again to decongest GLOBE and PLDT. If I were to buy a gaming phone, I would give that phone a DITO SIM to enjoy the bandwidth, ensuring smoother Internet transactions outdoors. A DITO number starts with 099... or +6399...
Background
DITO Telecommunity, established as Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company (MISLATEL), is the third major telecommunications provider in the Philippines. Chosen during the Rodrigo Duterte administration, the advent of DITO and the then-president's warnings of introducing foreign telecommunications providers had GLOBE and PLDT compelled to improve their services, increasing Internet transmission speeds across the Philippines. As of November 2024, the Philippine government grants DITO the following frequencies. 4G/Long-Term Evolution: 700 MHz, 2,100 MHz, and 2,500 MHz. 5G/New Radio: 3,500 MHz. DITO fully implements a protocol called VoLTE, providing its subscribers high-quality voice calls. VoLTE also includes video calls without dedicated software. As a result, you can make video calls without having to use the likes of Google Meet, Facebook Messenger, or Skype. Unlike GLOBE and PLDT, DITO implements 5G Standalone, which means that the 5G portion of the DITO network can operate independently of the 4G portion. DITO's 5G has been called True 5G because of its autonomy. Since 5G signals have a shorter range, DITO would have to install small cells to ensure decent coverage. As of November 2024, DITO's 5G covers mostly large cities.
