Childfree single importance: the benefits of having neither a spouse or a child

Growing old childfree and
single is a unique experience
waiting to be discovered by
the wider society

While mainstream society generally emphasizes, sometimes also insists on, the importance of marriage and (biological) parenthood, little do most people know is that being childless and single has its own solid strengths. Common benefits of living childfree and single include more personal liberty and less responsibility amount. You could be more committed to your careers, as marriage and family demand constant attention and efforts. People who are childfree and single have an inherently higher risk appetite: marriage and family require surefire assurance of safe development.

Safe isolation

A major benefit is that the inherent degree of isolation that comes from claiming neither child nor spouse turns you into a social breakwater of some sorts. When an adverse event hits you, nobody is immediately affected. Thus, you don’t have to worry very much about someone else’s concerns. Childfree singles together can form a social sandbox, a group of people who can immerse themselves in risky or threatening circumstances without the potential to drag others into their situations. Taking in the safe isolation, you can do anything for as long as your actions don't infringe on someone else's rights or drag them into your situation.

As a senior citizen

When you are also a senior citizen, this is a huge gain for your surrounding community. As you are literally on your own devices, you can safely engage in circumstances that require significant experience, knowledge, or skills; and too distressing to senior citizens who have children and (grandchildren). In other words, a childless single is a starting breakwater; a childfree single senior citizen (CSSC) is the ultimate breakwater. Another term for a CSSC is "elder orphan." When it comes to CSSCs, popular sentiment generally portrays them as lonely people spending the rest of their lives in despair. This is because they don't try to see the benefits. Without parents, children, or spouses, CSSCs enjoy the maximum degree of personal liberty.

Breakwater jobs

Not to mention jobs that are life-threatening, there are jobs that are economically productive or crucial to the general society but are so demanding as to potentially break the workers’ families or marriages apart. Familywise, it is infeasible to appoint spouses or parents to positions that require constantly traveling away from family or directly facing situations that involve deprivation of family values. Nobody likes to witness families break apart because of career demands. The agenda of making jobs available to all regardless of civil status can only do so much. Some jobs or social roles, despite their value to the wider society, will remain inappropriate for spouses and parents due to their demanding or degrading nature.
